When I had my first child I couldn't get the hang of the slings that I could find on the market. They were so wide and I "lost" my daughter in them. And the extra padding always seemed to be in the way. The strap-on carriers hurt my shoulders and cut into my chest. Because I never got comfortable with the carriers I missed out on being able to "wear" my little girl. The only "sling" I ever had that worked was a pouch-type sling my mother made for me to use at the local Ren. Fest. It never occured to me to make my own adjustable sling! Luckly my mother passed this pattern on to me before my son was born. We don't know where it originated, but it works wonderfully! The standard slings are about 22 inches wide so baby doesn't get lost! Not everyone likes the more narrow slings, so I do make wider slings as well.
I felt like there must be others out there who would benefit from being able to use this type of sling. The pleated shoulder distributes the weight well, and the width is enough to hold a baby without losing them in extra fabric. And I wanted to offer slings that are fun and economical - realizing that both of those terms are relative! So I have lots of bright patterns to offer as well as some more subdued colors and patterns, and I try to keep the prices as low as possible. I make the slings myself when my little one naps. Most of these are a "limited edition" because I typically only purchase enough fabric for a few slings at a time. Because I know it would be impossible to offer fabric selections that would please EVERYONE, I will be more than happy to custom sew a sling from your fabric.
