GET PAID TO (GPT) PROGRAMS
An introduction

Get Paid To programs are a way to make some money online.  You sign up with a company (I can
email you a list if you would like) and then complete surveys and trial offers.  You get paid anywhere from $0.10 to a couple of dollars for surveys, and $10 - $50+ for trial offers that require a payment.  Why would a GPT site pay you to do this?  Because THEY get paid for every person they refer who completes the advertiser's offer.  The advertisers pay the programs to recruit new members because they hope that you will continue with the service after the trial is over, or will sign up for other programs on their site.

Some of the offers are free.  You can complete surveys or requests for information at no cost to you.  Some trial offers require a credit card, but do not require upfront payment.  You only get charged if you do not cancel the trial offer (which in effect gives the advertiser permission to charge your card as described in the terms of the offer).  You can make money doing the free offers and trials, but the paid trials give the biggest payouts.

Example offer: Try Netflix for free for 14 days and get paid $15. If you like the service they provide then do not cancel and the credit card (or prepaid) that you signed up with will be charged a monthly fee after your trial ends and will continue until you cancel.

If you feel uncomfortable using a credit/debit card online then get a prepaid gift card that can't be charged more than what you put on it.  Then you don't have to worry about a company charging you for fees after you cancel (this primarily happens if you wait until the last minute to cancel.  You should be able to phone the companies and have a refund issued).  There is more information on
prepaid cards below.

 Some GPT programs have a
referral system.  You get a percentage of the income produced for the sites by the people that you refer.  Some sites offer multiple levels of referral. For example: Treasure Trooper pays you 20% of what your 1st line referrals earn, 5% from your 2nd line referrals (those referred to the program by your 1st line referrals). Instant Profitz gives you 10% of your referral's earnings until they reach $100. Then it's 15% until they reach $200. Over $200 will earn you 20%. Having referrals is a great way to significantly increase your earnings but the beauty of these programs is that you are not dependent upon referrals to make money.

Most of the programs pay monthly (between the 15-25th) as long as you reach the minimum payout requirement ($10-$20). Whatever you earn during this month will be paid to you the following month. Some sites pay 2 or 3 times per month.  Check the payment details on each site. Most sites also give you a couple of payment options, such as a paypal deposit, a paper check or payment in the form of gift cards to specific stores.
If you are uncomfortable paying for a trial, or giving out credit card information for the free trial, then start out with the 100% free surveys and trials.  Once you have received a payment for those, you may want to consider purchasing a pre-paid card with the earnings in order to complete the larger payout offers.

There are some tricks to completing these offers.  First off, create at least one, preferably 2 or 3 "junk"
email accounts.  These companies want your information so they can send spam-type mail.  Use your "junk" email accounts for surveys or requests for information.  DO NOT USE THEM FOR TRIAL OFFERS.  You want to use an account you check regularly for trial offers (it can be one you set up just for this purpose) because subscription and cancellation information is typically sent via email.

Use the following procedures when completing free surveys:

* Log in to your GPT account
* Click on to the offer you would like to complete
* Fill out the
required information for that survey
* Exit the survey
* Go back to your GPT site, and mark survey as completed
*
Clean cookies - This step is very important!
* Alternate emails if doing another survey from the same company or complete surveys from
   different companies.

When Completing Trial Offers:

* Use an Email address that you check frequently
* Keep track of your Offer's information
         o Company Name and Website
o Date of sign up and date trial offer ends
         o Login Information
         o Activation fee
o Subscription fee if you do not cancel
         o Contact information for cancellation
o GPT site and reward amount
* Make sure to cancel before the trial ends if you do not wish to continue the service.
* Request a cancellation number as well as the name/ID of the operator who assisted you.
This will be helpful if you are still charged after canceling a service.

You can keep a notebook next to your computer for this information, or devise a spreadsheet or database to help you keep up with this.  Use a method that works for you!  Once you get in the habit, this will be second nature.

General Tips and Tricks for GPT work

* Always use accurate information.  False information may keep your credit from being issued,
and could result in your accounts being closed.

* Download an autofiller program such as
www.roboform.com
You can preset your basic information and fill out long forms with one click!

* Sign up for a free online phone number with Netzero at
www.privatephone.com  These numbers go
straight to a voicemail and you decide how you want to be notified.  Use this number for your
surveys/information requests. Doing this helps reduce annoyance calls to your home or cell phone.

* Use Internet Explorer or Firefox.  Netscape and AOL appear to have multiple users, and this can
cause your GPT site account to be cancelled!

* Do not use a proxy server.  If you aren't sure if your Internet Service Provider is using a proxy server,
call and ask.  This can cause your GPT site account to be cancelled.

* START SLOW.  Fill out a few offers at a time and make sure they get approved.  Do a few more
the next day, and so on.  If more than 20% of your offers are getting denied credit, then you will
need to take a look at your methods and see if there is a problem

* Make sure your browser is set to accept all cookies

* Spend some time browsing the forums on the GPT sites.  Rules are outlined and advise is offered.

* If you make over a certain dollar amount on a GPT site within a given year, you may be required
to complete a W9 tax form for that site.  These sites are required by the IRS to report your earnings
over a certain level and you will receive a form 1099misc to use when filing taxes.  To learn more
about filing "misc" earnings speak to a tax advisor or call the IRS. (It really isn't hard, but I'm not
a certified tax advisor so I'm staying clear of this….)

* Do NOT…..worth repeating….. DO NOT sign into your account from anyone else's computer.
Do not let anyone sign into their GPT account from your computer.   If the GPT site detects multiple
IP addresses your account will be closed and you will not get paid.  Only one account per GPT site
   is allowed per household.

DELETE COOKIES

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools: Internet Options: (General Tab) Delete Cookies
Or, download CCleaner from
www.ccleaner.com  This program will clean out the cookies for you, and you can set it to not delete cookies from certain sites.

USING MULTIPLE EMAILS

You can sign up for an unlimited number of Yahoo emails.  However, it would be easier to only have a couple of email addresses to remember.  Gmail is great for this.  They have a lot of storage, so you won't have to clean out the inbox too often.  Gmail also allows you to "alter" your email address while keeping it valid. Example:  sign up for gmail under myemailaddy@gmail.com.  When completing your surveys you can fill in the email as the following - my.emailaddy@gmail.com, my.email.addy@gmail.com, m.y.e.m.a.i.l.a.d.d.y@gmail.com, etc.  By using the "." the survey company recognizes your email as "new" and is more likely to credit your account.

LINKS

If you would like links to any of these sites, please send me an
email and I will send you a full list.

PREPAID GIFT CARDS

Rather than giving out your debit or credit card information online, consider using a prepaid Visa/Mastercard gift card when completing trial offers.  These can often be purchased from your bank or from online merchants.  There is a site www.simon.com where you can purchase a "gift account" as opposed to a "gift card".  You receive an account number via email that you can use on any site that accepts Visa.  There is frequently a fee associated with the purchase of these cards, but would be well worth it for the peace of mind in keeping your personal account information safe.

Another note about prepaids - advertisers don't like them because they assume you are signing up with plans to cancel.  However, a merchant can not tell if you are using a prepaid or a standard credit card. Some GPT chat boards will not allow mention of the use of these cards because this.
